From a single clinic to a world-class multi-specialty hospital
MediCare was founded by Dr. K. Venkataraman with a vision to bring affordable, quality healthcare to the people of Chennai. Starting with just 30 beds and 10 doctors, the hospital opened its doors in the heart of Chennai's Medical District.
The hospital expanded to 200 beds and launched its Cardiology and Neurology departments. A dedicated 24/7 emergency wing was added, making MediCare one of Chennai's most reliable emergency care providers.
MediCare became one of the first hospitals in Tamil Nadu to receive the prestigious National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) certification, validating our commitment to patient safety and quality standards.
The hospital received Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation — a globally recognized standard. A new 10-storey tower was inaugurated, bringing the total capacity to 800 beds and adding 12 new specialty departments.
MediCare crossed the milestone of 1,000 beds and integrated AI-powered diagnostic tools across Radiology and Pathology. Today, with 500+ doctors across 30+ departments, we continue to redefine healthcare excellence in South India.

A triple-board-certified physician specialising in Internal Medicine and Hospital Medicine. Over 28 years of clinical and administrative experience. Leads all clinical operations, quality assurance, and medical education programmes at MediCare.
A Fellow of the Indian Nursing Council with 22 years of nursing leadership experience. Oversees a nursing workforce of over 1,200 staff across all wards and ICUs. Champion of patient safety initiatives and nursing excellence programmes.
